A movie poster is a great medium to inspire interests and to create the very first impression of the film, which can make or break the desire of the movie-goers to watch the film. A movie poster is basically a glimpse into what the movie is about and therefore it is important to make it reflect the movie as much as possible. The best way to do this is to recreate the main storyline the movie revolves around on the poster. Capturing the essence of the movie in the poster is essential as it dictates all the design choices you'll be making. In this project, we will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills acquired through the prior exercises through the design of a movie poster.
In this project 2A, students are going to produce 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional drawings using orthographic projections in three phases manually and continuously. The purpose is to explore manual projection methods in architectural drawing emphasizing on architectural conventions, symbols and line quality. In the production of the work for the Orthographic Projections assessment, we would have, by now, a fairly in-depth understanding of the architectural detail and spatial value of the Farnsworth House. Therefore, we are required to produce an axonometry drawing of the house in project 2B. In project 2C, this assessment introduces perspective as a mode of communication in architecture.
Architecture presentation boards are a tool to showcase your work. They are a way to draw the viewers into the design process and methods, providing an overall summary and vision for the project. It is basically a medium that are communicating the design and showcasing artistic skills, and sense as a designer.
The architectural model is a tool often used to express a building design or masterplan. The model represents architectural ideas, and can be used at all stages of design. An architectural model shows the scale and physical presence of the design. The model is a 3 dimensional replica or expression of the design, usually at a scale much smaller than full size.
Design Communication (ARC62404)
The module introduces fundamental skills for the appropriate communication of architectural design. It engages different means of visualisation and expression of space and spatial ideas through architectural drawings to prepare us with the skills required in design projects. These skills are taught through a series of freehand and constructed drawing held both outdoors and in the studio. The teaching and learning approach for the module will be lecture and tutorial based. The outline mode of delivery is blended learning approach, proportion of face-to-face and use of Online learning (TIMES). The module assessment will be an individual assignment involving a series of summative assessment.
Reflection
Lecture
The lectures was useful to me as it serves as a guide for me to do my construction drawings. I particularly liked the step-by-step video tutorial for the axonometry and perspective drawings given by the lecturers. At the same time, I find referencing to previous semester students work helpful because it showed me an example of how should I do my assignment or project.

Module Assessments
I have the chance to practice my sketching and drawing skills when doing the assessments. I also learned about architectural lettering which is something new to me. The assessments provided all the necessary skills required for the architectural drawings.

Projects
I loved how the projects are gradually becoming more challenging as it really trains our skills acquired from the assessments. It was particularly helpful to me when I was doing my studio projects. My colouring skills was tested during project 1 which pushed me to do more coloured media instead of monochromatic drawings. Through all the projects, it has exposed me to the construction process of architectural drawings and the efforts put into the drawings.

The tutors were constantly providing help to me during tutorials since we are not able to conduct face-to-face tutorials. I was able to obtain some guidance from my tutor through Microsoft Teams and all the important announcements regarding the project were posted for us to refer to when doing the project. The lectures were recorded which was convenient for me to rewatch the lectures when in doubt.

My tutor was great and she helped me out throughout my project by giving me advices and guidance on how to improve my drawings and construction methods. She made sure that we are on track with our progress and helped me clear my doubts.​
